From HiJinks Ink Publishing and Shannon Mayer comes Rising Darkness, book nine in the USA Today best-selling Rylee Adamson novels. With over 1.5 million books sold, Shannon Mayer proves once again she can dominate her genre right out of the gate.
"My name is Rylee, and I am a Tracker."
When children go missing and the humans have no leads, I'm the one they call. I am their last hope in bringing home the lost ones. I salvage what they cannot.
One last salvage and the final battle with Orion and the demon hordes will be upon me. I don't know the name of the person I'm Tracking or what she looks like, so finding her is going to be...impossible. But she is the key to defeating the demons.
The world has been swept with a plague that is killing not only the humans but every supernatural it touches. While I'm out Tracking, my allies are being wiped out.
Worse than all of this? I am losing Pamela to the darkness with every second that passes.
I'm not sure even I can control any of these outcomes.
But that doesn't mean I'm not going to try.

NOTE: SOME SPOILERS IN HERE. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.By the way, before you read this book, you definitely need to read Stitched, book 8.5 (http://www.amazon.com/Stitched-Book-Rylee-Adamson-Novella-ebook/dp/B00TQ70PMG). It's a quick read, but it fills in a lot of details that this book continued on with.
I read this book in about 7 hours. It's exactly what I expect from Shannon's Rylee Adamson novels. Except, this book wasn't so much about Rylee this time, as all the other books have been. Rylee was, of course, front and center, but there was a lot more of another character who is going to play a much bigger role than anyone expected. And a third of the familiar characters undergoes a big change. And Liam isn't as long gone as we thought, but he's twisted up inside someone else. All the while, Orion sets about wreaking havoc in the world.
Great, just what Rylee needs. More confusion.
This chapter sets up the final book perfectly. And just as planned, I can't wait for it.

Rising Darkness Rylee Adamson Book 9 (Audible Audio Edition) Shannon Mayer Lauren Fortgang Podium Publishing Books Reviews
Shannon Mayer you are an amazing writer!! I wish you had a short story about what Rylee's mother wrote in her journal like what you did for Lark and Alex. I thought it would be in the Guardian but it only mentioned she read it during their vacay with some references pertaining to the uncle. I was hoping for a more detailed story line about her life but I get it after all it is Rylee's story.
I pray that Laim comes back through the veil after the final battle since he isn't going to be in the battle according to Giselle. After all if Giselle can come through the veil to be in the final battle then maybe he could after it's all over. I would HATE Rylee and Faris together and Liam can't stay in Faris body that is just too weird. Faris has done way too much s*** to Rylee and Alex for her to fall for him (remember he drew blood when he choked Alex), care yes but not love..
I'm so glad that Alex has been healed completely so he can shift even if it's a question atm. He is one of the key people in the final battle and will now be an Alpha so of course he can shift if he desires and still have a great personality and bring us some laughs because we will need it. I can see Alex and Pamela falling in love since they were close already. I hope Doran can overcome his past and fall for Berget since she already loves him and I hope Faris finds true love now that he has seen what it's like thru Liam's eyes. He does deserve to be happy too just not with Rylee!!!
My final thought is how much of Rylee's blood will it take to kill Orion in the final battle?? After all doesn't she deserve some happiness after so many battles throughout her hole life and then having to deal with Orion? How many more loved ones will she have to lose before she gets her happy ending?
I was so happy to see that the "last" Rylee Adamson book had come out and that I could finally see how everything was wrapped up. I ordered it and read it up in a day (on my first day of vacation last weekend). I'm also pleased to see that the author has continued to make use of an editor. It makes reading her books so much more enjoyable. I was probably 3/4 through when I realized that no, we will not get an ending to the story anytime soon. Don't get me wrong, I have enjoyed these characters immensely and zip right through the book; however, the feeling started with book 8 that the author is just dragging out this story too long. I will be really frustrated if Book 10 turns out to be more of the same. At the same time, I found myself confused about a lot of the story until I finally realized that some of the "new to me" characters had already been introduced in a novella. I am not a reader of novellas, and I am not an electronic reader. I like to hold a book in my hand and put it on the shelf when I've finished. That said, I do not own a kindle, so I could not have read the novella even if I wanted to! I am paying enough for these books that I do not appreciate being short-changed in the information department. If this had happened earlier on in the series, that would have been the end of the series for me. I have been very patient with her lack of editing, drawing out the story etc. and have been a faithful reader so I have to read the last book to find out what happens. However, if she throws in another novella in the meantime AND doesn't make it available to everyone, I will be turned off Shannon Mayer altogether.
I absolutely love the Rylee Adamson series. You truly never know what will happen from one page to the next. There is a new struggle and heartache around every corner for this interesting "family" (aka band of powerful, mystical misfits), but there are moments of utter joy and happiness sprinkled in that make it all worth it.
While I certainly have my favorites, I have simply fallen in love with all the characters throughout the past 9 books. Each is well developed, with a mini storyline all their own. I would love to see some follow up series centered around some of the other characters. I hate the thought of this crazy, fun crew just disappearing after book 10 this Fall.
My only complaint would be that this book ended too soon and on yet another cliffhanger - I am ready for the next book!
